The wooden DUNES plates are the result of a shape study conducted by Studio Simple. Through the classic process of turning plates in wood, they ended up with a very simple-looking shape. The larger versions speak for themselves as distinctive underplates.

“Not an easy shape to make in glass,” says Willenz. However, even in this case, the shape not only has a decorative purpose. By faceting the corners, you can arrange flowers in those corners to create a surprising composition.

The choice of material for the Collage teacups design fell on solid acacia wood. The insulating properties of this wood ensure that the filled cup never gets too hot to hold. The slightly greyed wood is finished with a matt, waterproof, and food-safe varnish. The horizontal seam in the middle of the cups emphasises the straightforward appearance of the design.

The Collage teapot is a contemporary version of the traditional Japanese teapot. Through the recess in the lid, the aroma of fresh herbs subtly fills the room. The cast-iron teapot has a matt finish on the exterior and glossy enamel on the interior. The fine handle makes the austere-looking teapot easy to use. The Collage teapot is suitable for all heat sources, except for microwave ovens.

With the paper mache vases, I feel my visual language shifting ever closer to the sculptural,” says Marie Michielssen. The designer does not put anything on paper beforehand.
